Every small business owner knows how important it is for their business to have a good reputation. Oftentimes, positive sentiments from past and present customers are the best form of marketing your services. With that being said, it is no surprise that your online reviews should showcase how people truly feel about you and your business.

Think about it! When you’re looking to try out a new business what’s the first thing you do? Most people perform a quick online search and start reading the reviews. This means that your business’s online presence on platforms such as Yelp, Google My Business, and others can make or break whether your next client or customer ever walks through the door.

This past week, Google released a new tool that will allow Google My Business users to handle the removal of Google reviews on their listings. This will be incredibly beneficial to business owners everywhere because, now, there is a way to have more control over the removal of fake reviews on your profiles.

In recent years, there has been a rise in fake and distrustful reviews on listings platforms. This new tool is a step in the right direction, allowing business owners and marketers to report malicious reviews, so they can be removed more efficiently. There is also a way to see the status of your removal request, so you can stay in the loop!

How to use the new tool:

When misleading reviews are left on your page, whether it was by mistake or not, there is now a simple way to get them removed as soon as you notice!

  1. Login to your Google My Business account
  2. Click on the new Manage Your Reviews tool under Google Help
  3. Select the business you would like to manage reviews for
  4. Then select “report a review for takedown”
  5. Select the reason you want the review removed
  6. You will then receive an email confirming that your request has been received

Overall, this new feature for Google My Business will be extremely beneficial to businesses all around. Now, you can ensure that the reviews associated with your business are accurate. It’s time to take control of your online presence, so your future clients can trust you before they even step through your door!
